Field trips were considered including a trip to the Vedic Pandit Campus. Another idea was to contact the local tribe whose territory included the land where MUM is located and see about a possible field trip to watch them perform their traditional music. (Kaeli is going to contact Vanessa Vidal of GMDO for information on this tribal group).

World Music Festival 2011 planning meeting 1-27-11
Ruben stated his goal: Showing the power of Unity and Diversity through music, performers, art and cultures. The benefit goes to Consciousness Based Education to give the people the tools to live it in their lives.
According to Ruben these are the Action Steps:
    1) Someone to lead the concert (Michael Sternfeld?)
    2) Focus on the way the students are going to perform through our classes. (Music Department)
    3) Different activities from different cultures, art, dance, performance, food festival. (Cultural Committee)
    4) Funding for implementing CBE around the World. Solicit donations.—Stage, structure, getting artists and working with Laura to implement CBE. TM, Scholarships, Siddhas.
The plan of the cultural committee is to have 1 singer and 1 dancer from each continent. Showing diversity but also performers that are known within the movement to get donations.
    Ruben mentioned having Paul Horn.
Music department goals: Bring CBE musicians together, demonstrate CBE music, Symposium morning meeting for meditating musicians and guests.
    AM visit to pandits
    Music symposium on Sunday afternoon:
Ideas for speakers: Ed Sarath – Music Consciousness, John Hagelin – Silence to Sound, Paul Jones, Paul Fauerso, Donovan, Peter Westbrook.
Gather names for Symposium and contact information.
Cultural committee goals: Show Unity and Diversity through cultures but also unifying students , MUM, CBE, DLF, the whole movement. Have a cultural festival.
Using CBE as the primary mover and foundation of showing unity and diversity through world cultures.
DLF Goals: The bigger the event, the better. Put MUM and Fairfield on the map. Big stars and visitor weekend. Need $25,000-$50,000. A visit for the symposium guests to the Vedic Pandits. Michael will try to contact Paul Horn.

    World Music Class
Isabelle, Jane, Patricia and Kaeli discussed briefly the main objectives of the World Music Course.
We decided that Unity and Diversity of all Music traditions is a dominant theme.
Other (new) themes that were brought out were:
    1) Students regard other cultures from the inside out. Learning different cultures through participation rather than simply observation.
    2) Preservation of Musical languages.
    3) Music is a bonding from the physical, emotional and mental levels all the way to the level of consciousness.
Field trips were considered including one to the Vedic Pandit Campus. Another idea, was to contact the local tribe whose territory included the land where MUM is located and see about a possible field trip to watch them perform their traditional music. (Kaeli is going to contact Vanessa Vidal of GMDO for information on this tribal group).
